Traditional Gold and Silver

Thank you to everyone who joined in with last week's 10 minute Christmas card dare. There were some amazing cards done in such little time!!

This week, we're setting another team dare which is to use traditional silver and gold on your cards. We'll leave it up to you as to whether or not you make a Christmas card. As its Boxing Day next Friday, we're having a week off, but be sure to check back in the New Year on Friday 2nd January for the first dare of 2009!!

10 Minute Christmas Card

Thanks to all of you who joined in last week and made a card inspired by something in your homes. We hope it made you look at everyday things in a new way.

Just in case you hadn't noticed, Christmas is just around the corner - less than two weeks to go now!
So as we hurtle headlong towards the big day we thought we'd help you out just a little bit with those last minute cards.
Every year we find ourselves needing a few extra cards, even when we thought we'd got plenty, so this dare is all about super-quick Christmas crafting.
We want to see cards that take only a few minutes, but of course don't look it!
Make just one, or see how many you can make in an hour ot's up to you.
On your marks.... get set......Go Go Go
Here are some from the team to get you thinking - and please come back and let us know where we can see your creations. Have fun.

Be Inspired at Home

Hi Everyone. Kathy here this week - and have I got a challenge for you this time! Are you scared yet? You should be! But first, a huge Thanks you to everyone who joined in last week's dare, the cards were all fabulous and we really enjoyed seeing all the different designs you came up with for Jane's White with Pink Christmas.

This week you can make any card you like - so it can still be for Christmas, or to say Thank You or a card for any occasion you like, but I'd like you to look for your inspiration right there, in your home.
The idea is that you look around your home and find a pattern, design, motif etc - or just part of one that you can replicate and use as the inspiration for your card design
You could use the pattern of the floor or wall tiles in your kitchen or bathroom, or even your patio tiles
Or maybe there's a pattern/motif that's used on a picture frame, wallpaper or curtains.
Or how about checking your crockery, a vase, an ornament for a motif you could develop into a design for a card
Once you start looking around, you'll see loads of little design motifs that can work for you - at least I hope you will!
And now I'm going to be really greedy and say that it would be especially good if you could add a photo of the original item when you write your blog!
I don't ask for much, do I? hehehe
Here are some cards from the Design Team - they were very quiet after I posted this dare for them - I was beginning to think it was A Dare Too Far! Hope it's not too scary for all you Daring Cardmakers out there. Please come back and leave a message when you've had a go at this one and we'll be along to see what you've created

Cafe Chic!

Good morning everyone, my name is Vanessa, aka Ellepiggo, I've been cardmaking for several years now and I'm delighted to be part of the Daring Cardmakers team. This is my first time at setting the dare and as we're on "firsts" I thought about the first thing that springs to my mind every morning - Coffee!! LOL!

Yes, I'm a bit of a cappuccino/latte macchiato girl, so I want to see lots of cards inspired by coffee!! Coffee colours, cup shaped cards, card inspired by a coffee jar label, using coffee beans on your card, coffee shop logos on your cards etc etc.....

So, why not get creating those cards then pop back here and leave your link so we can come and see your fabulous work. In the meantime, here are a few cards that the Design Team have come up with :-

Stop press - we have now used a random number generator to pick the winners of the dare sponsored by Download Dottie and Charmed cards and Crafts!

The winner of either 2 downloads or the Christmas download is Michele of "my little space on the WWW"

The winner of the surprise prize from Karen at Charmed Cards and Crafts is Caz of "A load of old blogocks"

Could you both please email customerservices@charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk putting "DCM winner" as the subject and let Karen know which prize you've won. Congratulations to you both and a huge thank you to everyone who took part. We'd also like to thank Louise and Karen for sponsoring the dare :o)

Sponsored dare - Sparkle and Bling

Wow it's Friday again and we can't quite believe that it's November! Just where has this year gone? Before we get going with the new dare we would like to introduce you to our guest designer for November - the fabulous Ruth (Tip Top). We were thrilled when Ruth accepted the invitation to join us this month. Do make sure you check out her blog it is well worth a visit!

This week its Jozza's turn for the Dare and as its Fireworks week here in the UK she has gone all sparkly - so the brief was lots of bling!! We are sponsored this week by Louise Brigden (the designer of Dottie and George plus a whole host of other fabulous images) and Charmed cards and Crafts (the shop who sell the downloadable images).
download dottie blinkie
Louise was kind enough to supply us all with a selection of Dottie and George images and it's fair to say that we are in love! As it is a sponsored dare this week, we will choose a random winner who will win 2 download collections of their choice or the Dottie and George Christmas download. In addition to this fabulous prize, Karen who owns Charmed Cards and Crafts is going to put together a little something extra from her shop making it 2 prizes up for offer this week so it is going to be well worth taking us up on the dare to be in with a chance to win! The download can be won by anyone worldwide, but sadly the extra prize can only be posted to within Europe as Karen doesn't ship worldwide. We think you should make your card just for us this time - so please, no combined challenges for our prize dare.

SO have a go and see what you can come up with with some sparkle and bling and leave us a link for a chance to win some fabulous goodies. Here's what the design team made...
